After hotel breakfast, transfer to the wharf and board a luxury cruise boat to Moore Reef, an outer reef of the Great Barrier Reef. Because it is farther offshore, fewer people go there, the coral reef groups are better preserved and more colorful, and the water is clearer and bluer. Upon arrival at the floating platform, take a glass-bottom boat to view the various corals and colorful tropical fish. Free snorkeling equipment is provided on board for enjoying swimming with fish and sea turtles. Guests who want a closer encounter with the Great Barrier Reef can join optional sea walking (AUD 194) or deep-sea diving (AUD 198). Depart from the hotel in the morning for Paronella Park. A park guide takes you through the carefully planned castle, restoring the splendour of the old castle and telling the story behind it. There is a lunch stop at the park. Continue to Millaa Millaa Falls, known for its beauty and sometimes called the Bride's Veil, like a white curtain falling through the rainforest. Drive on through red-soil farmland beneath wide blue northern skies and stop at the Curtain Fig Tree, an enormous strangler fig whose roots have grown together like a curtain. Continue through tropical rainforest to Lake Barrine, a peaceful volcanic crater lake.
