Itinerary
On arrival to the Chiang Rai Airport (recommended flight PG231, arriving at 08:55 hrs), meet and greet with our representative before you start your day by visiting the highlight of Wat Phra That Chedi Luang. Continue to visit the hilltop Wat Phra That Chom Kitti temple, which is reached via a 350-step staircase. Afterwards, head to the Golden Triangle, where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet. This natural wilderness gained an unwanted notoriety in the 1960s because of the abundant opium cultivation in the area, but today has been restored to a problem-free area. Then enjoy a boat trip around the Golden Triangle with a stop at Don Sao Island, which forms part of Laos (boat trip lasts approx. 45 minutes). Enjoy lunch at local restaurant (Included). In the afternoon, visit the Hall of Opium Museum, a combination of multimedia and exhibits to make learning more interesting.
Chiang Rai, Thailand

Wat Phra That Chedi Luang
The oldest and largest temple in Chiang Saen, dominated by an 88-metre Lanna-style bell-shaped chedi—the tallest religious structure in Chiang Rai. Its octagonal base rises into a rounded spire, surrounded by smaller ancient chedis and a restored ordination hall.
Wat Phra That Chom Kitti
An ancient hilltop temple in Chiang Saen, traditionally founded around 940 CE. Its Chiang Saen-style stupa has a square base with twelve indented corners. Access is via a 350-step staircase, with sweeping views of the Mekong River and Chiang Saen.
Golden Triangle Park
The tri-border area where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet at the confluence of the Mekong and Ruak rivers. Once notorious for opium cultivation in the 1960s, it is now a tourist site with giant riverside Buddhas and boat trips viewing the three countries.
Don Sao Island, Lao People's Democratic Republic
A small Lao duty-free island on the Mekong, reached by a short boat ride from the Golden Triangle without a visa. Stalls sell Lao beer, tobacco, and souvenirs-a brief, curious detour that lets you set foot in a second country.
