Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia
Capital of Sabah, gateway to Mount Kinabalu and tropical islands.
This morning, we'll leave the buzz of Kota Kinabalu behind and hit the road for the lush landscapes of Kiulu. Watch the scenery shift from city streets to rolling green hills as we head deeper into Sabah’s countryside (AKA, your first taste of Borneo’s wild side).Hello Kiulu. Jump straight into local life with a cooking class and learn how to make four traditional dishes. Next, get stuck into jungle survival skills (think fire-making and bamboo crafting). After lunch, we'll settle into Kampung Lingga Homestay with a warm welcome, then learn Dalai bead-making and the secrets of Tapai rice wine from village elders. Tonight, share a cultural dinner, enjoy a lively dance performance, and wind down to the sounds of the jungle.

After breakfast, we'll wrap things up with a powerful Silat performance and a heartfelt farewell from our hosts.Ditch the villages for mountains as we make our way to Kundasang, near Kinabalu Park. The afternoon is all yours to wander through the Botanical Gardens, take in the highland views, or just relax and soak up a slower pace in this scenic spot.

Jungle trek to start off the day? Yep. This morning, we'll trek to Langanan Waterfall, winding through dense rainforest, past giant trees and bamboo groves. After around two hours, you’ll reach the real showstopper: a towering waterfall crashing down from over 120 metres. Take it all in before trekking back to our base. This afternoon, we'll make our way to Sepilok, where the pace slows right down. The rest of the day is yours to explore or relax. If you’re up for it, consider heading out on a night walk at the Rainforest Discovery Centre, where the jungle comes alive after dark with nocturnal wildlife and hidden creatures. Or take it easy and settle into your surroundings.
