This one-day trip from Porto covered both Braga and Guimarães, and I was glad to see the UNESCO-listed historic center and castle in Guimarães. In Braga we visited the cathedral and the Bom Jesus sanctuary with its baroque staircase. Lots of walking, but the itinerary felt solid. Lunch wasn't included, so I grabbed something on my own in Guimarães.

Itinerary
We’ll start in the heart of Minho, the city of Braga, ex-libris of the baroque period, but which currently radiates youth. In this full day tour we will visit the Cathedral, Historical Center and the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus. From the center of Minho, we continue our journey to the cradle of the nation, Guimaraes, where we will visit one of the country’s most treasured historic centers (UNESCO World Heritage).
Braga, Portugal
A city and a municipality in the northwestern Portuguese district of Braga, in the historical and cultural Minho Province.
Braga Cathedral
The Diocese of Braga has history dating back to he 3rd century. This cathedral was complete in the mid-13th century. The organ inside the church is renowned for its exquisite, intricate beauty.
Bom Jesus do Monte
This sanctuary, located just outside the city of Braga, is a notable pilgrimage site. The stairs leading up to the sanctuary itself are Baroque in style and climb 116 meters to the top.
Guimaraes, Portugal
A city and municipality located in northern Portugal. Its historic town centre is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, in recognition for being an "exceptionally well-preserved and authentic example of the evolution of a medieval settlement into a modern town" in Europe.
Guimaraes Castle
This medieval castle in northern Portugal was built in the 10th century to defend the local monastery from Moorish attacks. Though it is Romanesque in style, it underwent some Gothic renovations in the 13th century.

- Child Rates: Children aged 3 years and younger are free of cost.

Children 4-12 years old tour price is 50% of the adult price.
Children under 4 years old will be free to join the tour and only transportation included, all other expenses to be paid by the accompanying adult.
