Christopher Columbus, credited as one of the first Europeans to successfully sail across the Atlantic Ocean to the "New World" of the Americas, is immortalized with a towering monument (197 ft. tall) on Barcelona's famous walkway, La Rambla. A statue of the man himself rests at the very top, depicting the famed explorer pointing out towards the sea. For 2 euro, visitors can take an elevator to the top, which offers a thrilling view of the city.
