The tour was very good and I would highly recommend it. Go for it guys and girls.

This is my second trip to Acadia National Park. My friend and I had a blast. The itinerary was full and enjoyable. Eddie our tour leader did a wonderful job of keeping us on schedule and made sure we had enough time to enjoy each site. Our motorcoach operator did a tremendous job keeping us safe and comfortable.
I worked at Cadillac Mountain and Thunder Hole many years ago but the scenery still takes my breath away even after 30 years. If you end up shopping at Bar Harbor I highly recommend a store called "Acadia Shop". You can pick up the best Strawberry Preserve you'll ever taste. This trip will definitely give you a taste of New England.
Went on this tour with 11 of my girl friends, we had a blast. It was an experience we never had, the drive to up the mountain was very scenery, the top of the mountain itself was beautiful. The diver of our tour bus was Steve best driver ever and our tour guide was very funny and patient with us. We did all you can eat buffet the food was also good. Everything about this tour was perfect money and time well spent.
Another nice nature trip with cooler weather. I liked Mystic Aquarium seal show, York Zoo feed the deer, Acadia Cruise seals & porpoises, and Coast Botanical Central Gardens. Relaxing ride and thanx for history Champlain.
This trip to Maine was absolutely wonderful. From start to finish. Our bus was brand new, with a great driver. Our tour guide Sunny was the very best, and did a super super great job. Thank you very much. Lastly one bit of advice, when in Maine do eat the lobster, and the blueberry icecream yummy yum.
I have gone on many tours with this company and have always been pleased. My recent trip to Acadia was exceptional. It was well paced, we had a enough time and was very comfortable. The attractions have made a lasting impression. Jayquant and our driver were wonderful, very knowledgeable and accommodating.
The trip was amazing! We have Eddie as our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the trip. The trip went delay because of some traffic issues. However, Eddie ensure that we will cover as much as we can in the trip and indeed we had. One of the reason I joined the trip because of the Salem side trip. I was so scared that the trip will be canceled because of the delay. However, Eddie ensure that we get to visit there even for a short time. In general I am very satisfied about the trip. Thank you.
Amazing tour! I and my wife took it at the time of memorial weekend last year. The tour was extremely well planned and the guide Hao was very informative and helpful. English was good enough and easy to understand. The itinerary is full of wonderful spots - starting with the mystic aquarium. It is pricey for the size but otherwise a great place to see. you can touch the fish and see the sea lions / whales. Views from Cadillac mountain are amazing and so is bar harbor. Do try the blueberry icecreams. the last day has the portland lighthouse which is quite a view- calm and serene. The last stop of zoo is also fun with lot of animals and birds to see and click! overall a comfortable journey, with frequent stops made. The movies on board the bus and wifi makes the travel time much easier to pass. Yes, you do have to adjust to be on time as per the itinerary, but that is what such tours come with. if you do not want to plan a lot, want to save money and have a relaxed time in beautiful Acadia park, you should go for this tour.
Once this trip gave me a lot of deep impression, I guide Hao let I met more than 40 new friend, Hao said he met this year this time the weather is the best because we are all very lucky people, thank you bring to our family a good trip! Thank you!thank you Hao!
Our tour to Maine was well planned. The transportation was good. Our tour guide Randy was very good and helpful. He took extra efforts to make sure that all passengers are comfortable and enjoy their trip. He made some real time changes to adjust to the time lost in traffic.
Tour was great experience.
Maine is very beautiful and peaceful. Enjoyed tour very much. This is a place that everyone should Visit if they could. Tour guide Rex was very nice and informative. Driver also did a good job, feel safe. Hotel was nice and clean.
It was a great trip! Me and my husband primarily went for Acadia and and while reading my review, please bear in mind that I have driven to, explored, hiked and treasured around 20 National parks at my own pace during my decade long stay in the western part of US, hence I am not bias toward bus tours. Yes, this trip was hectic (only moderately) but that was expected being a short conducted tour and that was the very reason we took it. If you want to get an idea of Acadia and the treasures of coastal Maine in a short 3 day trip without exhausting yourself from driving, then this is definitely for you. This was our reason too and Taketours definitely delivered on their promises; we would go back later on our own to explore more.
Our tour guide 'Randy' had a keen sense of time management, hospitality and people's skills. Our driver 'T' was excellent, we really appreciated her. Randy made genuine effort for everyone to enjoy what the trip had to offer. He revised our itinerary to avoid bad weather and get around traffic conditions. He even made the bus return back to Acadia in the afternoon because the mountain top view was completely foggy in that morning; that's for us was a great sign of an efficient and considerate tour manager. The trip was designed to accommodate plenty of time to enjoy fresh-caught Bar harbor cuisine and we had great seafood lunch as well as dinner at our own pace there while taking in the harbor view.
The bus was clean and all the admission fees were clearly written on the website as well as on the ticket. Randy even texted us the day before with his phone number, itinerary detail and costs. Attractions were optional so that people can choose/pay for things as per their taste or health abilities and that's a great positive point for us. We didn't want to visit Mystic aquarium, so we didn't go and instead enjoyed visiting local shops and a taste of local cuisine in 'The Boathouse'. Randy and the tour organizers also made sure that the bus stops at every 2 hours, we really appreciated that. One negative point for this tour is no allowed restroom usage on board unless its an emergency. Now, people with overactive bladder and other relevant conditions should consider that; although we were completely fine as Randy diligently made stops every 2 hrs and did allow a few emergency usage for little kids and senior citizens. The tour company doesn't avail a restroom cleaning service every night during this 3 day tour, hence their rule of no on-board usage without emergency. Being seated in the back near the restroom we really didn't mind that rule as this area could have been very smelly otherwise. My only suggestion would be to put this rule in your website detail so that people may know about it beforehand. Randy was very nice to tell everyone this before boarding and oriented people to the restroom located in the company office building in Chinatown.
In summery, it was a very professional tour, filled with great scenery, delicious cuisine, abundant view of marine life during the cruise trip and plenty of activities for the kids (small zoo and aquarium) that was managed with an excellent tour guide and was driven by an excellent driver. In return they do charge a minimum 12% service fee / gratuity; we thought that was well deserved.
I took the tour last May 2017. It was great. Our tour guide was Randy, it was well organized. Time was well managed. The Mystic aquarium is okay. First time i saw a Beluga whale and its beautiful. It rained on the first day so he rescheduled the lighthouse tour on the morning of the last day. We checked in in BestWestern Augusta, it wasnt bad. The room is big, has microwave, fridge, coffee maker, free and good breakfast. We spent 2 nights there. Acadia is beautiful. It was cloudy in the morning so we went to Bar Harbor instead, I ate lobster. A lot of stores and restaurants. Bought some souvenirs. We took the lobster boat tour, its okay. Then we went back to the summit in the afternoon. It is awesome! Spectacular scenery. I love it, i need to go back there someday. Bring a good camera. On the last day we went to the portland lighthouse, it is beautiful. Youll definitely get good photos. Then we went to the York zoo. Its a good zoo, a lot of animals. Overall the tour is worth it. No problems encountered. The group is very punctual, no delays, and theyre awesome. There are 2 kids that are funny and cheers up the group. We ate in buffet restaurants. We got back to new york passed 5pm. The tour guide is well experienced, he speaks chinese and english. The tour isnt stressful at all because you can sleep in the bus while waiting to get to your destination, compared to driving. There are usb ports in the bus for charging. It was more fun than i thought. Now im looking for the next destination for my tour.
My friend and I just took the tour. It was the perfect time to take it to see the autumn foliage. The first day was not perfect due to the bus breaking down before the pickup. We were delayed about 2 hours due to the bus and traffic so we didn't get to spend too much time in Boston. The 2nd day turned out to be the best. We took the scenic route to Acadia National Park. You can't beat the view from Cadillac Mountain. Joe our tour guide was patient and tried his best in spite of the all the problems on the first day. The bus operator did a great job. I felt safe throughout the trip. I would take this trip again.
Joe was a good guide & Steven a great driver, very timely throughout the day & tour. A couple of rude passengers because people are people...other than that the hotel was clean, decent breakfast included & friendly Maine patrons. The view was amazing & memorable as was the cruise. The aquarium & witch museum should definitely be an option....not my cup tea....
It was a nice outing. The weather was good and the tour guide was also nice. Acadia is a nice place away from traffic-ridden cities. We were 6 people with our families. My kid enjoyed the Acadia cruise and she would like to go back again if get a chance. The hotel was also nice and breakfast was good.I recommend this tour to anyone who is planning for any outing.
It was a nice experience taking this 3 days tour with take tours. The tour guide Hao was quite helpful and planned the tour quite well. The Cadillac Mountain in the Acadia National Park was the most beautiful attraction, then Bar Harbour & Nature Cruise in Maine was also good.Boston Harbour cruise & aquarium was good.
Me and my husband went for this tour last week,i.e 3rd september-5th September, from new york. Our tour guide was Randy. He was very much helpful. Our bus was stuck in a traffic jam due to a road block at new york.So there was a delay of approx 2 hours to reach Boston and we had to skip the Lighthouse visit on that day.Randy made an alternative arrangement and we visited the lighthouse on the last day of our tour. Both Randy and the bus driver were good. The passengers of our bus were also very good. They were reaching at the bus exact on time and so the tour could be conducted so well and we completed all the destinations within the time. Moreover, it is because of the time management and calculation of our guide that we arrived new york before 8 pm, in spite of it being the last day of the long weekend.
The trip was very well planned. We got to see several attractions. Acadia National Park is very scenic. The Natural cruise was very interesting.we saw the Eagle and Harbor Seal. Everybody followed the schedule strictly, which worked out for the best for all of us. They did stop at malls where we found variety of restaurants like Burger King, Wendy's, Pizza Hut, etc. Food was not a problem speaking as a vegetarian. The accommodation at Comfort Inn Hotel was very comfortable. Overall, it was a very eventful trip. lastly, thank you our Tour Guide Jerry lin and our driver, they did a very good job! We will come back again!
This was our third trip with TakeTours. Long days, but pretty sights. Aquarium, Zoo, lighthouse, Bar Harbor, and the Boston cruise were nice. Nice hotels and comfortable beds. Thank you for our TG Jerry Lin and our driver Simon. Good value for the money. Very nice guide. Always took pictures of couples and families.
The trip was nice. The bus was new and nice with outlets and lots of space. Bus made a lot of stops on the way to Maine and back. Guide JERRY LIN was very nice and helpful. The Acadia National Park is so beautiful and it it breathtaking when we step on the top of Cadillac mountain
I highly recommend the 3 day Acadia National Park and Maine Coast Tour! My boyfriend and I have been on 6 tours with this company and have really enjoyed them so far. This trip to Maine was no different. Our first stop was at Boston for a Harbor Cruise that took 45 minutes. Due to a time limit we didn't enter the New England Aquarium. We then went to South Portland, Maine, to see a lighthouse. We stopped for dinner at a American buffet near the hotel in Acadia, Maine, where we spent two nights. The second day we went to a Nature Cruise for 2 hours in Acadia and Thunder Hole-very leisurely and scenic. The weather couldn't have been more perfect on the second day! Lunch was lobster in Maine. On the third day, we went to York's Wild Kingdom. Many different types of monkeys, a white Bengal tiger, many birds, a camel, ostrich, a zebra, and more! Afterwards, the Salem Witch Museum. Overall, a great trip!
This was our 2nd 3-day weekend with TakeTours and it was great. The weather was perfect for this tour. The tour guide Eddy was awesome, very patient and caring. The driver drove the best very good and he was very kind as well. The sites were very attracting and breathtaking. The hotel stay was very accommodating and the complimentary breakfast was helpful for saving money. I highly recommend this trip to anyone and it is a safe trip for elderly people. My grandmother was with me and my mate and she had a good time. Looking forward to going on the 3-day weekend to Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion.
the second time i took this tour! the weather wasn't that great but the experience was still wonderful. Jerry was so helpful and informative. the attractions were well set out, very memorable. i will probably visit again in the future.
We went on this tour with Hao Wu, a very funny and interesting guy. We had a lot of fun as a group despite the long hour bus rides. Throughout the rides, Hao gave us opportunities to rest, but at other times he initiated many group activities to entertain everyone on the bus. When we arrived at Bar Harbour, Hao pointed out to us the best spots to take photos. Awesome trip!
We took this tour on the July 4th weekend, and it turned out to be a great experience! Though it was a bit costly for us, as we joined the tour from Boston, but the beauty of Maine justified the dollars spent :-)
The itinerary was planned very well, and we were given enough time at every spot. I just wish, we got some more time to spend up on the Cadillac summit. It was breath-taking experience up there...
The accommodation provided was good and the Hotel was clean and well distanced from the Acadia Park and Portland, so that balanced the Bus journey pretty well.
The Tour Guide Jerry did his Job very well and I was very impressed with his friendly behaviour. Also, wanted to Call out our Driver for the trip, who did an awesome job for three continuous days with very little rest, and always with a smile on her face.
I would definitely recommend this trip , especially to folks from NYC, this is a deal you wouldn't want to miss! :-)
It was a nice experience taking this 3 days tour with taking tours. The tour guide Jerry Lin was quite helpful and planned the tour quite well. I would certainly take this tour again in the future and recommend it to my friends and family. by the way, the Cadillac Mountain in the Acadia National Park was the most beautiful attraction in the three days, everyone was surprised by the beauty of nature. Thank you.
I went on this tour with my family during the memorial day weekend and naturally there was lot of rush. The Guide-Chris and the driver did a pretty good job though and we did manage to return to NY before time which was great.
The tour as such was relaxing and nothing to complain. Day-1 was the most hectic of the 3 where were given 2.5hrs to do the Boston boat trip , lunch and the NE Aquarium which was nearby. We skipped the boat trip as we had done it in the past tours to Boston and spent all our time on the aquarium which was good (particularly the giant tank)but not as good as the Mystic aquarium.
Thereafter we spent 30 mins on the Portland light house which is under cover mostly due to maintenance. Though the scenery around the place was great but the "under cover" lighthouse took off the sheen a little bit. Still 30 mins was too short in my opinion.
We reached hotel at around 9 pm and had to be ready at 7:10 am for the next day trip. The trip to Acadia national park and Bar Harbor was the highlight of the tour and understandably so. We got to spend the whole day at the Cadillac mountains, Thunder hole and Bar Harbor and there was ample time provided at all the attractions.
We returned to the same hotel at around 8pm and there were ample places nearby for dinner so no complaints.
The last day trip began at 7:45am where we checked out of the hotel and went to York Kingdom Zoo and then to the Salem Witch Museum. There was light drizzle but we spend 1 hr 30 mins at the zoo + lunch (get your food early or pack it as the service is slow). We loved the lions, Tigers (Royal Bengal and White)and the Kangaroos among a host of apes and other animals.
The Salem Witch museum was a short stop for a 20 min show plus little over at the gift shop. So overall relaxing and we returned to Chinatown at 7:15 pm which was great.
The hotel was a standard Fireside Inn & Suites in Waterville with a tiny place to basically grab and go as far as breakfast was concerned. There was restroom inside the bus but we were not allowed to use it. The restroom stops were frequent so no problems there.Chris was a bilingual tour guide and really helpful.
Overall it was a nice tour and I would recommend to my friends.
This is my second bus tour and I'm happy with this as this trip covered the scenic beauty of Maine. It was an awesome trip except the last day. Last day, we didn't have much to see. However, I would strongly recommend this tour to all.
The tour was nice, but we were running through points on tour map. I would skip half of them and rather spend quality time in fewer places then quantity check points. The last day I was disappointment the most when we got to the Salem. The tour guide told us we have only 50 min for everything, and my friend and I had to skip Witch Museum to see the town instead. I thought we will have 2-3 hours to spend there, but they've decided to come to New York earlier (at 4:30pm).
Joe was our tour guide and he was excellent - no complaints whatsoever. The transportation issue was with the bus not being able to charge devices although having multiple plugs available - a huge bummer not able to charge phones between spots for the 3 days. Was sad we expected to visit Wild Kingdom Zoo and was told when along way that that stop was not on the tour because the Zoo wasn't open til the 28th (stuff like this should be specified on your site at time of purchase). We had a great, relaxing time besides those mentioned above though. Looking forward to booking another tour soon
Thank you for your feedback. I will let operator know about the electric plugs in the bus. And as you may know, this tour is seasonal. And we apologize that the Zoo was still closed when you took this tour.
This was our 4th 3-day weekend with TakeTours, and our favorite!
We were very lucky with the weather, which made Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor even more beautiful. We had a lot of time to enjoy Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, the highlights of the trip.
We had an enjoyable boat tour in Boston, but no free time so we will have to go back another time.
The stops at Mystic Aquarium and York Zoo were brief and a little rushed, but better than stopping for food and bathroom breaks at roadside services.
The accommodation and transport were pretty good, as was our tour guide.
Overall, excellent itinerary and excellent value!
This was a beautiful and relaxing trip. Jason gave us plenty of time at each attraction and never rushed. We also had enough stops for bathrooms and food. Arcadia was beautiful and relaxing, just make sure you have a warm jacket because it's very windy! The Salem Witch Museum was super boring and I wish I didn't waste $10.00 on it. Jason should be my guide for every trip, he was awesome!
This is my second bus tour and I'm happy with this one compared to my Martha's Vineyard trip.
Tour Guide: Randy, nice guy, friendly and did his best to be very patient and funny for everyone on tour. He was also our official photographer (my friend and I) lol. Thanks Randy!
Accommodation: Comfort Inn at Augusta, Maine. Very nice and clean. great hotel for what we paid for. No free breakfast but you can pay $5 if you want to eat there in the morning. There's a diner/bar beside called NinetyNine and couple of fast food places located around the area. Very convenient location.
Transportation: I believe our bus was clean enough. Not too cold or too hot. Driver was cool and drove safely.
Itinerary: My friend and I went to all of the attractions except for the Mystic Aquarium. We thought it wasn't worth our time since it's mostly for kids. We went to a nearby shopping village instead called Mystic Village. Quaint and lovely shops around the area. There's even a corvette car show going on while we were there. Acadia National Park was stunning. If you plan to join this tour in fall (for the view of fall foliage), bring sweaters or winter jackets and sneakers. It's very windy up there and the shoes are needed for walking on steep areas.
Bar Harbor- very nice cute town. Lobster restaurants are everywhere, but we went to this place which is just beside the docks it has a sign "LOBSTERS" in front and at the side. Very good value for your money and the place is warm and cozy. Nature cruise was very nice too. informative, nice views and chilly of course.. watch out for whales and seals out in the water!
Salem Witch Museum: yes, please change this into something else. Very boring and not worth my time. Pure narration of events in a dark room with crazy creepy witch mannequins.
Boston Harbor cruise- the guide will tell you about the famous Tea party and all sorts of engagements that happened between British and American people in the past. I kind of liked it. Views are okay... I was on a boat so it was great anyway.
We didn't go to Wild Animal Kingdom. They're closed for the season.
Tour Guide: Jerry
Pro: Very disciplined, punctual, got things done
Con: 6 for friendly (scale from 1-10)
Not that clean, not that comfortable. But please remember you get what you pay.
Nice, clean, big, and close to mini mart.
I love Mystic Aquarium. You should not miss the belugas. It's the largest outdoor beluga environment in the U.S. They are soo super friendly and cute. Be sure you visit Penguins and Seals as well.
Salem Witch Museum:
Don't ever waste your time to go inside for their presentation about the history of witches. Walk around the town to see its decorations for Halloween is way better.
Very nice town, indeed. I recommend side street cafe for fresh lobster for $16. For ice cream, I recommended Mount Desert Island Ice Cream which I think is way better than Ben & Bills. President Obama also visited Mount Desert Island Ice Cream when he took a vacation in Bar Harbor. Blueberry and Maine Salted Caramel are tasty!
Needless to say, stunning.
Nature Cruise in Bar Harbor:
A good experience, indeed.
I don't think we went to see this one which is on itinerary. Big minus points on this
Maine wildlife Park:
Very impressive for seeing moose and wild animals. A must to see!
Needless to say, stunning.
All you can see is "BOSTON" skyview. I'm not saying it's not nice. But it's Boston, not New York or Seattle where it's worth to sail away from shore to see its beauty.
Oh my god, what a fantastic trip this was. It was the 3-day trip to Maine. I went by myself and everyone was super friendly, including Jerry Lin. This was my kind of trip. Fast paced, yet giving you the feel that you saw all you needed to see. The bus driver drove very safely; the tour guide Jerry was patient and organized. I am hoping to take more trips with this company in the future. Every place we went on this trip was great. I can't say enough good things about it.
This is one of the best tours I have taken from TakeTours. The excursions were all very beautiful. And the tour guide tried as much as possible to avoid Chinese buffets, which seems to be the norm with TakeTours. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves nature.
The tour guide, Jerry, was on his last tour for the year with us. I assume he's been on the same tour repeatedly throughout the summer, so I felt like he didn't give it his all. I've been on multiple tours with TakeTours and their tour guides have all been very energetic. But overall he got things done.
I really enjoyed this trip. It was my friend who booked this tour for the two of us, but as I enjoyed it very much I wanted to write this review myself. We saw a lot in three days. I particularly enjoyed Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park, very beautiful. Would strongly recommend this tour to others.
It was an awesome trip! My family really enjoyed the beautiful sites on the East Coast. Jason was a very good guide. At times a little bit on the rush. Also, In Augusta, there should be more alternatives for dinner than just a Chinese buffet. A little closer they had some fast food places than can be a little more of a selection for people to choose. The bus driver was very friendly and polite. I believe there should be more access to a restroom on the bus. Especially when you have elderly people or children, bathroom time may be more needed than the usual, I have told many of my co-workers to please check out your site, it's great!
A fantastic tour worth more than its price, nice and luxurious coaches, well mannered and cooperative guide and bus driver, decent hotel accommodations, but a little rushing. I will advise to only decrease the number of attractions and increase the time duration for each attraction, I would definitely love to go again and again with my family and recommend to my friends.
I like this tour in general, especially the whale watching tour and Acadia National Park. But my suggestion to the management is to provide good informed tour guides, more information about this tour, places we go and pass by. Our tour guide, David, spoke only a little bit when we came to Maine and that`s it. Nothing more?!! It's like you get a bus driver instead of a bus tour. People go for tours not only to see places but to get information too. It was a big minus.
Everything is too RUSHED. We left Queens & sat in traffic for hours. We had to scrap the Salem Witch Museum because we were so late. This was a good thing because the museum is kitchy and not very good. Skip the Mystic Aquarium & go into the village instead. Checked into the hotel that has HORRIBLE customer service. The rooms were a pleasant surprise. Although dated, they were spacious, clean & comfortable. TERRIBLE free breakfast. They are not located near anything & the hotel restaurant got terrible reviews. Bar Harbor & the cruise were perfect. As was Acadia National Park. Again, everything was too rushed to enjoy completely. The last day was Portland Light House. Very scenic. We could have skipped the York Animal Kingdom. All meals are fast food. And they mean fast. We were not allowed to eat on the bus. The driver, Ken, was rude as rude could be. A real son of a so and so. Our guide, Eddie was sweet, helpful and had the patience of a saint. With all the people who rudely ran late at every chance and all the complaints, Eddie never lost his cool. Even when the rude driver Ken balled him out in front of everyone. Too rushed, too may sites to squeeze in and too much fast food. Despite the exhaustive pace, I did enjoy myself but will never do another tour trip again.
I really liked this tour and the tour guide was very helpful and spoke fluent English. One main concern that I feel they need to address is this: it is now known that majority of the people who take TakeTours tours are Chinese tourists. So, I strongly feel that apart from coming to the US for sightseeing, they should also learn about culture, especially manners. I suggest the tour guide explain to them important things, especially to not cut queues, not to rush into every attractions (like onto a ferry) and push other people (very common for them to do this) and also not to pretend they don't understand the rules of the attraction places. I came across Chinese tourists using flash camera during the Salem Witch Museum show REPEATEDLY when no cameras are allowed during the show, disturbed every other tourist trying to enjoy the show (yes they flashed the camera to other people's face to get whatever they're capturing). Also they throw litter everywhere when you can find trash cans nearly anywhere. The tour is awesome, but I feel the need to stay apart from the group as much as possible so as to not being perceived as one of them. And I feel that by educating them during the tour, it will be very beneficial for them to actually learn new things from their trips.
Tour guide was very good.
Thunder Bolt was not covered, although it was mentioned in the ternary.
Need Pickup from Hartford, CT for future trips. I got the last seat even after booking 1 week advance when 10 seats were available. Please mention seat number at the time of booking itself. Please plan to give more time in Acadia, at least 90 Minutes. 35 minutes is not enough time at Cadillac Mountain top.
Review for Acadia national Park Maine 03 days tour.
This was an excellent tour. The scenic beauty from Cadillac Mountain and the Maine Bar Harbor as well as lighthouse is wonderful. The Boston Harbor tour was nice too. Lobster lunch, blueberry soda, lobster ice-cream as suggested by Jerry was awesome.
Mystic Aquarium, Salem Museum, and York Zoo could have been avoided and more time should have been given in Boston Harbor-Quincy Market, Portland Lighthouse, and Cadillac Mountain.
Special thanks to Jerry Lin and the bus driver Chris.
Jerry was very enthusiastic, and planned the trip very nicely. He was very helpful and managed everything very well, and even stayed late on the last day to help us get the shuttle to East Brunswick.
The driver Chris is a gentleman. Very courteous, helpful and always smiling.
Overall wonderful experience, and the lucky draw on the last day was a very innovative idea from Jerry.
This tour would be the best tour if they reduce the too many attractions and gave us more time for main attractions like Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain, Light House and Boston Harbor. Other things that can be improved is lunch and dinner stops at places where everyone will have choices of food rather than only Chinese food.
However overall, a very nice and pleasant experience and must visit places.
Thanks again to Jerry and Chris for making our trip memorable
Dev - June 19th to June 21st, 2015
A tranquil trip filled with the beauty of five of the six New England states, we made the welcome center stops in Rhode Island and New Hampshire and enjoyed attractions in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maine. Salem, Massachusetts is an interesting stop that will have you wanting more time to explore this historic American town and shop the fun stores on Essex Street. Bar Harbor, Maine stands out as the highlight of this trip, a charming port town with the best blueberry ice cream. A relaxing time with an abundance of natural beauty, fresh air and outdoor time.
It was an amazing tour! We absolutely loved all the places they took us to. The cruise in Boston was cool. The lighthouse in Maine, Acadia National Park, lunch with fresh lobsters, the hotel in Augusta - everything was very pleasant. Our driver, Sebastian, and the guide were very helpful. I would totally recommend this tour to anyone interested.
Tour guide, Evan, was very accommodating and the hotel was nice, so things went smoothly. Itinerary was well placed so we could cover so much in little time, though we would've loved just 15-20 extra minutes in Salem to see the town after the museum. The bus seats were comfortable, however temperature control was not good and we were freezing in the morning and baking in the afternoon.
Maine is a beautiful place to visit. I have been to Maine earlier with this tour. Like the Cadillac Mountains, it was a relaxed tour. George, the guide was very accommodating. Special thanks to Brian, the driver.
The tour was good overall. More time should be given on Cadillac Mountain as compared to Bar Harbor. Also the witch show at Salem is not worth it. If you can substitute it with some other attraction, it would be good. Rest assured, the natural beauty at Acadia is really enchanting!
Best part was the Maine cruise. We spent a good 1.5 hours out in the sea. Sat on the top deck for the best view (blankets are provided if chilly). Other attractions like Salem or York Zoo are only fillers, not worth it. Cadillac Mountain was covered in clouds, could barely see anything.
Amazing tour! We took the three day trip starting August 29, 2014- the Labor Day weekend. The tour guide, Derik, was very informative and helpful. English was good enough and easy to understand. The driver was very good too. The itinerary is full of wonderful spots - starting with the Mystic Aquarium. Views from Cadillac Mountain are amazing and so is Bar Harbor. The Salem Witch Show is actually boring and a waste of time and money and should be removed from the tour.
We stayed at The Fireside Inn & Suite. Superb hotel service during our 2-night stay at this hotel. Food: Breakfast covered by hotel.
There was one particular group of 16 people who took more than the allotted time at each attraction, and our tour guide was very patient and kept his cool. I would have left them to find their own transportation back because they had no consideration for others. They had a few babies and kids with them who were very noisy. The adults in the group were also always loud and talking at the same time when the tour guide was talking, and it was difficult to hear what he was saying. They were so annoying.
We did not go to Quincy Market, and there was no stopover in Thunder Hole as the itinerary suggests.
Overall, a great experience for the price, especially transportation and accommodation. I personally thought there were TOO MANY attractions included in the trip itself for such a SHORT amount of time and everything was rushed.
Very well organized.
On Time...guide tried his best to keep all passengers to stick to the schedule.
I wish they skipped the Salem Witch Museum and make us stay in Boston Harbor for little longer. Maybe do the whale watch tour over there.
Day 2 -
Was great and had a great time in Acadia National Park...and Bar Harbor.
Day 3 -
I wish they would skip the zoo and make us stay around Portland light house a little longer.
Accommodation were good and clean at Fireside Inn and Suites.
Morning breakfast was so so.
GREAT trip! Acadia National park was worth all the miles we travelled. The other side trips from the Boston harbor trip, to Salem, Massachusetts, to the Connecticut Mystic Aquarium were places that needed more time to explore. All in all, it was a great experience and we highly recommend to put on your "bucket list." THANK YOU, TAKETOURS.com!
The BEST tour ever! Our tour guide, Jason, was very nice to us and we had a great time! We had excellent weather for the first 2 days, although on the third day we had a lot of rain! Another down point was the time we were in the bus... We were in the bus for 80% of the time, and even when we got to the place that took us hours to get there, we only had about 1 hour to see all the sights!
This trip as fantastic! Jerry, our tour guide, and Jason, the bus driver, were really informative and extremely nice. Day 1: The Boston tour is really not worth the price at all, however, the city is beautiful. We did not go to the Which Museum and instead visited the places around it (good experience). The lightouse was beautiful, however, we should have spent more time there not an hour. Day 2: The park was amazing, however, an hour there is not enough time either. The town in Maine was breathtaking, and the ice cream is a must to try. The boat ride was all right. Day 3: The zoo is great, you can pet some animals and take a camel ride if you would like. The aquarium is great too. Overall, really nice experience. However, some more time should be added to the main attractions.
On July 7, my dad and I had an unforgettable trip in Acadia National Park with a very nice driver (Alex) and a genial tour-guide (Mr.Lin Jerry). Mr. Lin can speak at least two languages, English and Mandarin, he always helped us. He made introductions on the way before we reached destination. My favorite part was in Bar Harbor, the tour guide recommended a plain-price but high quality restaurant. A lobster lunch was only $25 per person, and included French fries, blueberry pie, and soup and other plates. I strongly recommend you to try that, so delicious. We also had enough time to try blueberry soda, blueberry ice-cream, lobster ice-cream. Salem Witch Museum, zoo and aquarium were also interesting, my dad and I took a lot of pictures. This trip was better than we imagined. :)
We were blessed with great weather pretty much throughout the entire trip. The downside to leaving on a Friday is the traffic. We hit traffic and lost a lot of time on the first day. The only attraction we hit was the Witch Museum in Salem because it took us approximately 8 hours to get there. Our tour guide, Jason, was very friendly and nice, but perhaps a little too nice. Many people arrived late to the pick up point in Chinatown and therefore, we were delayed in leaving. People also took more than the allotted time per attraction, and our tour guide was not as firm with making sure everyone was punctual. He was very patient and kept his cool as the middle man between the driver and the travelers. The driver was AWESOME, great man, very sociable and friendly.
Bar Harbor is BEAUTIFUL. I wish we spent more time in Bar Harbor because we didn't have enough time to appreciate the town. Eat fast (eat lobster!) so that you have time to explore the town. It is right by the water, but the town is full of little shops/boutiques worth a visit as well as the ice cream and blueberry soda-- both recommended by Jason, our tour guide. The lobster ice cream was not too impressive (just lobster pieces in vanilla ice cream) but it was worth a try. The lighthouse in Maine was beautiful. We ended up going the morning of our third day instead of the first so we were there when it was fairly quiet (8:00AM) but a beautiful time to appreciate the view. Tour guide was great and directed us to the spot with the best view of the light house. Acadia National Park was beautiful. Not enough time spent there though, didn't get to see as much as I hoped.
No restroom on bus, which was GREAT because I sat in the back right next to the bathroom stall. Made enough stops along the way. Most of the time was spent on the bus and not enough at the attractions/towns. I wish we were given some time to explore the towns in general.
Food: Breakfast covered by hotel. American buffet one night, Asian buffet the following evening. McDonald lunch, lunch in Bar Harbor, and lunch in Boston (we went to Quincy market-- recommended LOTS of options) on the last day.
But overall, a great experience for the price, especially transportation and accommodation. I personally thought there were TOO MANY attractions included in the trip itself for such a SHORT amount of time. Traffic should always be taken into consideration. Be prepared to bring about $100 in cash per person if you plan to participate in some of the attractions and the obligatory tips.
I was very satisfied with the tour. The tour guide, Jason, did a marvelous job; the accommodation was also superb; the transportation as well as the driver were great, and all the places stated in the itinerary were followed....keep up the good work!!!
The schedule was too tight on the first day and there was no time for lunch. We wish the tour guide warned us to grab the lunch during the rest area stopover. Boston cruise is not worth the price. Portland lighthouse so beautiful during sunset. Wish we got more time on the lighthouse and reduced the time for dinner.
The best part of the tour is the Acadia National Park on the second day, and was very relaxed. Nature cruise is well worth and covered most of the attractions on the Acadia. We were lucky to get glimpses of a bald eagle, seals and porpoises. We went on the shore path trail in Bar Harbor which was very relaxing. However, there was no stopover in Thunder hole as the itinerary suggests. Since there was so much time, they could have added some more stops inside Acadia (e.g. park loop Road or thunder hole etc).
Last day is good for families with kids. Otherwise nothing much to do.
The tour guide organized it quite well and quite friendly.
One suggestion for the pick up/drop off in East Brunswick, NJ. Instead of Hong Kong Super Market, if the pickup is at the township parking Garage right across the road, it would help the people to park and ride.
Overall, the trip was worth the price!
The trip was pretty good. Our tour guide (Lawrence) was good at his job. The first day was nice but the second day is the best day of the trip. You will love all the activities the are planned for the second day. The people are also very nice. The Inn is small but comfortable. The third day was okay. It wasn't bad, but it was nowhere near as good as the second day. Trip was worth it!
The accommodation was at Best Western White House which is a pretty decent hotel in Maine with complimentary breakfast. The tour allows you to enjoy the great views of Acadia National Park from the Cadillac Mountain and from Bar Harbor. The nature cruise is really good with great guides but quite costly at $32 (prices have increased!). The guide will recommend a restaurant - West Street Cafe (#17 on Tripadvisor) for Maine Lobster which is not too bad. Sadly, the gratuity is fixed at 18%, disallowing us some discretion in determining the tip. Nonetheless, there are many good restaurants around at reasonable prices. Just look up tripadvisor before your visit. Since this is a National park trip, I think we need more time in the national park than at zoos and aquariums which were overpriced. I was hoping to walk on a trail perhaps but was dismayed. Anyhow, its a good trip for the elderly folks and toddlers as not much walking is involved.
This is my third time dealing with touring. My second time was this past February with the Washington DC tour etc... I went with my son and two other family members. We had a great time. If you love scenic views and seafood this tour is for you. You come out learning a lot, since each place is extremely rich in culture. It's a great way to visit wonderful places in the United States on a budget. The guests on the bus were very nice, the tour guide was just okay as far as his knowledge from all the places we visited this time, but it was an overall awesome trip!! We enjoyed it to the fullest plus the Mystic aquarium, York Zoo , Acadia National Park, Salem Witch Museum, and Bar Harbor was superb all the way. Very kid friendly as well, I recommend this tour !!
This tour specialty is Acadia park and Portland lighthouse for its scenic beauty. We started the tour with Boston Harbor Cruise trip and that was not interesting despite a very good commentary. You should give dolphin or some other tour. Please remove Salem Witch Museum from your list, we were about to sleep over there. Second day was awesome and we all were thrilled to see the natural beauty in Acadia Park. Pictures from mountain and view to bar harbor is superb and you can easily spend hours over there. Later, we reached to Bar Harbor for famous lobster food and blueberry soda (tour guide recommended this combo) and it was nice experience for me as it was my first time. Tour to catch lobster was good and thanks to guide who told us to carry jackets as it was very cold into the deep sea. Holding live lobster and then watching see lions and sea-birds along with America's national bird was a good experience. Third day started with Portland Lighthouse and it was awesome but we got limited time to explore it. We moved to York Zoo and it was good for kids only and same for Mystic Aquarium (go for blue lobster and white dolphins). They are not offering any interest to adults and I should have skipped them. Our tour Guide, Lawrence, was very nice and humble to us. He was always smiling to people, even if they were coming late or not following instructions. It is always tough to manage a large diverse crowd but he did a good job. Bus driver was new to route but never lost his way and was very quick to remember roads while returning. Feedback - Please remove Salem Witch Museum from your list. Bus should have big nice LCD screens and fix all the storage panels above seats as they make a lot of noise. Whale watching tour should be on itinerary or replace Mystic Aquarium with Boston Aquarium.
My husband and I love this tour. , but would have preferred staying longer in Bar Harbour. The Witch museum, Sandbeach , are boring. Mystic Aquarium is not the best. , very small and pricey. We love Bar Harbour the best, the Boston Harbor Cruise, THe Lobster Cruise at Bar Barbor. Very informative. Lawrence worked very hard to make us comfortable. I would recommend this trip minus Witch Museum and Mystic Aquarum.
I love this 3 day trip to maine. It was a relaxing trip. The fun part was the lobster steal cruise and spending time at bar harbor. We tried everything lobster including the lobster ice cream at bills by the main st. YY our tour guide is funny and very helpful. This is my 4th time using taketours and still loving it.
Salem Witch Museum was wasted time, with Boston Harbor Cruise love to see city tour, not Witch Museum, also one hr is not enough at Mystic Aquarium mostly show time is 2pm or 4pm not match with tour & York's Wild Kingdom is not that great also too short time.
Itinerary for Day 2 is perfect, while Day 1 & 3 might be a little bit tight. The Salem witch show is actually boring and time wasting.
Tour guide Jerry is very helpful. But the driver David was unacceptablly rude. He kept making phone calls and even texting when driving. He also finished all his meals inculding wings/burger/soda when driving on free way! Such dangous behaviour should be warned.
I can say that my family and I enjoyed this Memorial weekend visiting beautiful and interesting places. Our guide was fantastic. He made us feel good and made our life much easier. The hotel was nice, clean and organized. Special thanks to our driver who kept us safe during the trip.
Amazing tour! I and my wife took it at the time of memorial weekend last year. The tour was extremely well planned and the guide was very informative and helpful.
My friend and I had such a memorable trip. It was such a pleasure trip, which was overall beyond our expectation, even though we didn't get a chance to watch the whale due to the time schedule.
Thank you to Mr. Barry (our tour guide) and also Mr. Dan (our driver) for their hard work and for their excellent job. The hotel we stayed (The Fireside Inn & Suite) was such nice one. The hotel has got every thing we need. Superb hotel service! we are so delightful during our 2-night stay at this hotel.
Acadia National Park was so incredibly beautiful. All the wonderful scenes at Cadilac Mountain had taken our breath away. Lobster Lunch was absolutely fantastic! (Thank you Barry , we were glade for you advise) and Barry you were right about the Blue Barry Soda as just a bottle of that was not enough (we should have bought a whole bag, we should have listened to you).
Our Trip was very well organized by Barry. Every single stop was on time (I know it was hard for you Barry, however you had made it happened!) We had enough time on each stop without rushing or had wasted too much time at all. Barry is such a smart tour guide his time management was excellent. Barry is very diligent, energetic and the most important thing has got sense of logic which many tour guides do not have. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Barry (our tour guide) for his service above and beyond. You are so outrageous!!! I wish that you will see something special in Mr.Barry as same as the way we do and would find that Barry is being such a value asset of your company.
Had a very relaxing time at the Acadia NP tour. Both the bus driver George & tour guide Alex were good. Time given for each attraction was enough. Only drawback was the 2 'adult' movies that were played on the bus which were very unappropriate for viewing with so many kids on the bus. Ultimately Alex was asked to suspend playing the videos. More care should be given to such issues in future. But overall the tour was good, will definitely recommend it to friends.
Apart from all the great scenic places and attractions, this tour was very well-organized and well-managed (credit goes to Alfred, the tour guide). Enough time was allotted to each attraction.
They dropped the whale-watching (since very few were interested to pay for ticket) and replaced it with a cruise ride (which unlike the typical narrated cruise rides did not feel boring to me. Awesome scenes are out there!). The York Wild Kingdom is one of the zoos were you can walk around the goats/deers and feed them, ride a paddle boat, etc. so, not the typical experience. The lumberjack show is very grade-school (even pre-school) type of show. Unless you have a 4yo kid, I wouldn't recommend that one.
And be ready to spend a good $160/person on top of the tour registration fee (for all the attractions and food).
The Tour was Fantastic. Our guide, Alex, was nice and helpful. Only missing thing was the Whale watch. I dont know why they dropped whale watch. Also, the sound for the video on the bus was not loud enough. Thanks
This tour was recommended by Iserel after my booking for another tour failed to depart. We did not regret taking up this tour as the scenery at Portland light house, Acadia National Park & Bar Harbour were mesmerising! Our Tour Guide Alfred was very accommodating & kind! He even refunded us the money when there was a reduction in the entrance fees to the Animal Kingdom. Time allocated for each interest was nicely spread out! The only complain was the hefty 31% tipping charged by West St Cafe for our meal at Bar Harbour. Would want to give more tipping to Alfred instead but cash has run out! Anyway, will still recommend this trip less the meal at West St Cafe.
It was a superb tour specially for nature lovers. Mystic aquarium, cruise ride @ Bar Harbour viewing Cadillac mountains. Our tour guide George is very accomodating and cool. Didnt rushed anyone and completed the trip ontime. Bus Driver Trevis is very nice. Me n my wife enjoyed the trip a lot. This is my third trip with gotobus I ll def recommend this.
Great trip. Very relaxing - driver drove like an NYC cabbie, which meant it was quick but also that I preferred to close my eyes than watch him drive. Beautiful scenery - dozens of photo ops. Would recommend to others.
There were several issues with the bus from getting into an accident, overheating, breaking down, and having to change buses a couple of times. However I must say that Mr. King was very professional and handled it well, making sure that every thing was done to make the trip a success. My husband and I had a wonderful time, especially because breakfast was included with the hotel stay.
This was a great bus tour. Mr. King & bus driver Wendall were both friendly. Mr. King was knowledgeable about the areas and was able to share with us tid bits and kept the bus ride entertaining.
One thing I would advise is not to feel forced into buying the additional attractions like the zoo, etc. We thought the ticket price would be cheaper since we were a large group but learned that buying it at the attraction would have cost the same so I would advise holding off till you get to the place to see if you really want to go there instead of paying up front.
The trip was a fascinating one. Particualrly wonderful was the Portland trip. The Acadia scenic cruise could not be done due to Earl Hurricane but our guide compensated with a wonderful 90 minute Portland harbor and Casco bay cruise. Mr.King is an awesome guide and made the whole group gel. I lost my camera but King ensured I got it through one of his friends and sent it back via UPS. However I feel instead of the York zoo and Mystic Aquarium, more time should have been given to York (beach and other lighthouses ) which could have added.
all in all, the tour was great. the "attractions" were interesting: the liquor store, Mystic Village, Bar Harbor. we enjoyed the natural wonders of Acadia National Park through the climb up the summit of Cadillac Mt. and the exciting cruise later. we have beautiful photos to show for that happy experience.
It was a fantastic tour. Acadia National Park is very beautiful place and Cadallic Mountain too. The beauty of the mountains and the sea life is mesmerizing. I would recommend every person to visit there once. The beauty of this place is breathtaking. :)And the Tour guy Mr. King is also a very friendly person and was very helpful and shared lots of information about this tour.
Once again I had a great time with my family. Got awesome prices on wine when we made the stop @ New Hampshire. Acadia National Park was wonderful with extraordinary views. Shopping @ Mystic Village was great, I bought a beautiful handmade necklace I will cherish. The lobster @ Bar Harbor was delicious as well as the blueberry pie and ice cream. I was able to buy a blueberry wine and I cant wait to taste it and share it with friends. Unforgettable experience!!
