The tour was excellent. The tour guide was very cooperative and friendly. He took all efforts to make the tour a memorable. We could see the hidden treasuries of American national parks. My score for the trip as well as Guide is 10 out of 10.
Solo traveler friendly! Pickup was on time, guide even helped take photos and showed a secret photo spot behind Fairmont. Van was very cold, so bring a jacket. Otherwise a perfect day trip covering gondola, lake, and canyon. Great value for money.

The following nights were spent waiting in a cabin, which was more comfortable. The final day includes a direct transfer to the airport, so everything connects smoothly. Good for travellers who prefer not to arrange things themselves.
If your main goal is to see the aurora over multiple nights, this itinerary is well designed for that. Evenings start between 9 and 10 pm and run until around 2 am, which gives plenty of time. The cabin at the viewing site is warm and has hot drinks and snacks. During the free daytime hours, there are optional activities like dog sledding or snowmobiling if you're interested.
The structure is straightforward: daytime is kept fairly open, with the main activity being aurora viewing at night. The two-hour city tour on day two covers the essentials, including a stop at the visitor centre for the 60th-parallel certificate and a drive through Old Town. Days three and four are completely free during the day, which gives you room to plan your own time.
Our tour guide Ryan Zhao was very accommodating and very well informed about the weather. He tried his very best to show us areas that he knows we will enjoy and take advantage of the good weather so we do not missed out. He is very diligent with his job.
We booked our Columbia Icefield tour through TakeTours, and our guide, Bowen, was fantastic. He is highly experienced and incredibly efficient. Despite experiencing some delays at the Icefield attraction itself, Bowen managed the timeline perfectly and got us back to our hotel exactly on time without ever making us feel rushed.
The Icefield experience was great, though very crowded. My advice is to dress in layers; because of the high elevation and wind, it felt below freezing even though the valley weather was in the high 80s. Also, the glacier water is absolutely freezing if you are brave enough to touch it!
Overall, the 6-hour round trip from Calgary is well worth it, especially if you want to avoid driving.
Pro tip: Look for bookings about a month in advance, as you might get lucky and snag a 10% discount compared to booking super early.
Loved this tour and our tour guide Charlie. We had to get up and do a lot of walking but we saw so many wonderful sights and we had a lot of fun in the sprinter van. It felt like a family trip with 14 people. Charlie gave us lots of history along the way and this helped pass the hours during long drives.
