Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7 this year, making it the last long weekend of the summer. Three days fits a two- or three-day route — the East Coast corridor from New York, or the Southwest canyons from Las Vegas or Los Angeles. The longer western loops and Hawaii need a full week, so those work only if you add days either side. National parks and Niagara Falls run at their busiest over the weekend, and coach seats and hotel rooms are what run out first.
Two days reaches Niagara Falls; three adds Washington DC and Philadelphia; four covers the corridor as far as Boston. Taking the Friday off opens up the longer routes. Departure dates and remaining seats show on each tour page.
Routes run east to the canyons by way of Las Vegas, or north along the California coast. Adding a day either side is what makes the longer loops possible. Early September is still desert heat, so check how much of the day a route spends outside.
The longer routes need close to a week, so the holiday covers only part of the trip. Booking this close to the date leaves fewer departures to choose from, and flights are at their summer peak.
I had a wonderful experience on the 2-Day New Haven, Rhode Island, and Boston tour from New York, largely thanks to our outstanding tour guide, Qiaoming Lam! From the moment the trip started, Qiaoming set a high standard. He was exceptionally well-groomed and professional in appearance, greeted everyone warmly, and maintained a polite, respectful, and friendly tone throughout the entire journey. Beyond his professionalism, Qiaoming truly elevated the experience: Knowledgeable & Engaging: He provided clear, detailed historical context and fun facts about every stop—from Yale’s campus in New Haven to the historic streets of Boston and Rhode Island's coast. Exceptional Organization: Managing group logistics, timing, and rest stops across a multi-city itinerary can be tough, but he kept everything running smoothly and on schedule without ever making us feel rushed. Attentive & Helpful: He went out of his way to make sure everyone was comfortable, answered every question patiently, and provided great local recommendations for food and free-time exploration. If you are booking with TakeTours, request Qiaoming Lam if you can. He made the entire trip smooth, educational, and memorable!
On my winter visit, the first day was switched to the Corning Museum of Glass, and watching the live glassmaking demo was interesting. Still, without the gorge walk, the day felt a bit thin.
Tour guides Shawn and Ricki were amazing. All the attractions were covered as planned. I have undergone multiple tours but accent was hard to follow at times but didn’t have problems this time at all. Food considerations were noted and they stopped at appropriate place. They were very knowledgeable and informative.
The tour was short and excellent. It covered everything that could be done in LA. Guide was informative and quite witty. He made suggestions for eating options as well. He was super helpful and made sure everyone was comfortable, especially as we were travelling with our infant. Would definitely recommend this tour!
Excellent value—saved tons of hassle vs self-driving. Guide got us discounted Monterey Aquarium tickets and warned about Yosemite temperature swings. SF traffic was heavy but that's not their fault. Great trip overall!
The guide was a highlight - incredible knowledge from redwoods to Gold Rush history. Glacier Point view of Half Dome was epic! Bus had USB chargers and wifi. Perfect pace, not too rushed. Absolutely worth it!
Solo traveler friendly! Good rest stops, not tiring. SF stops had enough free time, Yosemite trail suitable for all. Driver and guide worked well together. Only downside: second day lunch spot was mediocre. Overall very satisfied.
Exceeded expectations! Yosemite's El Capitan and Bridalveil Fall were breathtaking. 17-Mile Drive was postcard-perfect. Guide was knowledgeable and even helped take photos. Hotel was clean and breakfast good. 5 stars!
Great value! Bus was comfy and the driver skilled. Yosemite day was well-organized hitting all highlights. Guide gave useful tips to avoid crowds. Only con: lunch time was a bit rushed. Still highly recommend!
Trip to Maine was very nice. We enjoyed. Tour guide Mr. Sing was very nice, explained regarding all places & gave proper rest in between. N safe drive too. Good memories
overall this tour is nice, especially tour leader Jason . this guy very responsibility with all the members and discipline. i can recommend this tour for anyone who want to know east us.
We took 2 took 2 days Niagara Falls trip from NY along with my 6 year old son we had lot of fun and enjoyed every minute without any headache. Accommodation was good. Sufficient information was provided before visiting the place.
Worried it would be rushed, but it was well paced. 4 hours at the temple, comfortable coach with Wi-Fi. Sunset light on the carvings was gorgeous. Perfect for non-drivers. Will book again.
I had a really great experience on this tour. Kevin communicated with us in both Mandarin and English and was extremely knowledgeable about the canyons we visited. He was also very friendly and accommodating throughout the trip, always making sure everyone was comfortable and was happy to answer any questions. The itinerary was well planned and his directions were easy to follow. Harry, our bus driver, was also very nice and helped make the long drives feel safe and comfortable. Overall, it was a really enjoyable tour and I would definitely recommend it.
Chandler was our Tour Guide for this 3D2N Tour. He is an excellent guide, a joy to be with, considerate yet very responsible and well-respected. He knows so well what he is doing, giving us clear guidelines and instructions, which made our tour smooth and enjoyable. The driver was also friendly and on time for pickup. We went to several places as mentioned in the mandatory fee and did most of the optional tours, including the Watkins Glen Park, Congress Tour, and even the amazing Hot Air balloon, which we enjoyed so much. I highly recommend this 3D2N Tour to my family, friends, and anyone who loves US History and geography, nature lovers, and anyone who loves outdoor activities. I have been with Take Tours for almost 20 years now, bringing friends and families in groups. This is a good family and friends bonding, too.
I had a 4 day trip to Washington DC, Niagara and Boston. Our tour guide Angie is very nice and patient with us. She managed and organized the tour very well. It was an amazing experience overall. I definitely recommend this tour to others. Probably we would have spent some more time in Philadelphia and Boston.
We took tour starting Wednesday (August 5) from Flushing, NY. The tour guide Judy was wonderful and very friendly and took personalized care of everybody. I had fallen a bit sick on the tour, she went to great lengths to make me comfortable, because of which i quickly recovered and went about the tour as planned. She is a great asset and systematic, gives clear-cut instructions, cautions people on what not to do and keeps track of everyone. Our second tour guide on the last day just for New York city Sean was equally wonderful and very skilled at driving in Manhattan roads on crowded summer weekends. Knows the city thoroughly and was very caring with clear instructions. One suggestion I would give is to include central park instead of Saint Patrick church. The church's architecture can be shown from outside.
