Guests will get picked up in their hotel lobby at 6:00 am the morning of the tour. From there we will travel deep into the Verde valley to our first stop of Montezuma Castle. Then we will head to the second monument of Tuzigoot. Later on, we will head to the historic copper mining town of Jerome, AZ where we will spend an hour. Lastly, we will head to the depot for our last stop - the Verde Valley Railroad. We will board at 1:00 pm this iconic sightseeing train in first class which includes champagne, a sandwich and chicken wing bar. The 3.5 train ride is so enjoyable for the red rock sights and local history shared by the narrator. Also mines and Native American ruins will be present along the ride. Upon return at around 4:30 to 4:45 pm we will head straight back to hotel.

Montezuma Castle National Monument

The Montezuma Castle National Monument isn't actually a monument, but an area of preserved cliff dwellings once used by Native Americans. The buildings were carved directly into the limestone walls of the cliffside by daring Sinaqua builders.

Clarkdale is a town in Yavapai County, Arizona, United States. The Verde River flows through the town as does Bitter Creek, an intermittent tributary of the river. Clarkdale, formerly a mining town, is now largely a retirement community with an eye for the arts.

Tuzigoot National Monument

Tuzigoot National Monument preserves a 2- to 3-story pueblo ruin on the summit of a limestone and sandstone ridge just east of Clarkdale, Arizona. The Tuzigoot Site is an elongated complex of stone masonry rooms that were built along the spine of a natural outcrop in the Verde Valley.

Jerome, AZ

Jerome is a town in the Black Hills of Yavapai County in the State of Arizona. Founded in the late 19th century on Cleopatra Hill overlooking the Verde Valley, it is more than 5,000 feet (1,500 m) above sea level.

  • Departure and Return Location: The hotel of the booked guest in the Phoenix/Scottsdale Valley area.
  • NOTE: Temperatures can reach 90 degrees in the summer time and 30 degrees in the winter so dress accordingly. Also pickup time can fluctuate between 6am-9am depending on season and tour times given. Guests staying in certain regions of the valley can expect longer tour times because of pickup and dropoff location.
